In the movie whiplash there are many different sound effects that can be heard mostly from when he practices playing the drums. There is also parts of the movie where fillers are added to bring the suspense to a higher level improving the scene to help viewers understand the discipline of music and how it sounds great if played with precision.

The sound informs the mood overall by immersing you in the passion, love and addiction that he has for music during the film.

The range of sound effects that the movie produces are very specific by using actual sounds from the drums being played for a realistic effect. If they used a fake drum sound you would not feel the same because the realism gives more credit to the character and makes for a more believable situation.

The sound is also great because you can actual see and hear his struggle with adapting to the unrealistic goals that his instructors holds him to.
